Safari camp with eight tents
Ruaha National Park
Mighty Ruaha River
Excellent game-drives & bush walks
Situated in the Ruaha National Park with its bio-diverse ecosystem, Jongomero is a must for visitors searching out one of the ‘Last Remaining Wildernesses’ on the globe.
The Ruaha comprises a total conservation area of 10 300 square kilometres (3 977 square miles) located within and along the Rift Valley, thus presenting an ecosystem and range of wildlife from plains game to the elusive roan and sable antelope. The Ruaha covers a transition zone where Eastern and Southern African species of both fauna and flora meet.
Jongomero offers guests the experience of extreme isolation and wilderness. The Camp is situated under tall acacia trees in the remote southwestern sector of the Park, along the Jongomero Sand River. From this canvas hideaway, one can observe rare species of wildlife at close quarters, including lesser kudu and striped hyena.
The Camp comprises top-quality accommodation, with only eight well-appointed tents. The tented dining facilities give the Camp a ‘Classic Explorers’ feel. The Camp specialises in remote, all-day game drives, where guests can enjoy picnic breakfasts and lunches. Meal locations are in pre-selected sites, whether under acacia or magnificent baobab trees or remote spots overlooking the mighty Ruaha River. Another popular activity is a guided bush walk.
