Tintswalo Atlantic - The Lodge

Cuisine

The Tintswalo Atlantic kitchen is a very personal one, headed by Danelle. The culinary wizards' sole objective is to give guests the feeling of a home away from home. The kitchen and dining room are open plan and designed in such a way that guests are encouraged to have a seat at the counter (with a glass of legendary Cape wine) while watching the Tintswalo's chefs in action, as they weave their magic.

Or how about a personalized cooking class?

Guests staying at Tintswalo Atlantic are treated to a sublime breakfast, and afternoon tea. 'A La Carte' lunches and dinners are also available.

Environmental and Social Responsibility

The Tintswalo Group is deeply respectful of our precious environment and the unique site where Tintswalo Atlantic has been built.

With this in mind, Tintswalo Atlantic is built on stilts and constructed entirely of wood - enabling its easy removal if ever required. All designs, architectural developments and operations were closely monitored by The Parks Board, who visited the site once a week to monitor the building process. Not so much as a branch was cut from the Milkwood trees that grace the shoreline - the Lodge was designed to fit into the surroundings … not the other way around.

Ever mindful of "lightening the load" on Tintswalo Atlantic's infrastructure, the only staff member to live on the premises is a night manager.

The sewage system for the lodge runs through a plant that turns fresh water into the sea at the end of its cycle.

A progressive refuse management system has been implemented, ensuring that any waste is removed from the property on a daily basis.

Unique aspects
  • Seclusion and privacy - the perfect "hideaway"
  • Unbelievable ocean location - here one can feel the spray as well as smell the ocean air. Tintswalo Atlantic is the only lodge in the Cape Town area that is actually situated on the Atlantic Ocean's water's edge.
  • Nature - Tintswalo Atlantic is located within the Cape Mountain reserve, which is known for its extraordinary rich, diverse and unique fauna and flora.
  • Stunning views of Hout Bay and the Sentinel - sunrise and sunset are especially beautiful.
  • Plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas.
  • Interactive kitchen which gives guests the opportunity to chat to Executive Chef, Danelle Paulsen, as she goes about her daily work creating imaginative, beautiful and mouth wateringly delicious dishes.
  • Guests can join Ryno in the kitchen, trying their hand at creating a new dish. This is by prior arrangement.
  • A courtesy vehicle is available to transport guests to local restaurants in and around Hout Bay as well as into Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront.
