Travelling to and from the Fundu Lagoon resort is a journey in itself…
It takes you by road through the island’s villages and then follows the coast by boat to arrive in Fundu Lagoon.
The recommended means of arriving on Pemba Island is by a 30 minute light aircraft flight from Zanzibar. Schedule flights and air charter are both available. There is also a ferry service but this is unreliable and not recommended.
Chake Chake, the island’s only airport, is in the centre of the island. After arrival at the airport, a 45 minute vehicle ride on a new tarmac road will take you to Mkoani Port. The last part of your journey is on Fundu Lagoon’s private boat service from Mkoani Port, taking you to the resort in 20-25 minutes.
There is no useable road access directly to Fundu Lagoon but boats are always available for hotel guests.
