Nestled in the heart of the fascinating Victorian railway town of Alicedale, lies a world of opportunity - Bushman Sands.
A mere 100km from Port Elizabeth, the town of Alicedale once steamed along as an important link in the railway, but from the mid 1990's until the beginning of 2003 the town has been virtually dormant.

The Bushman Sands 4-Star Hotel is a delightful blend of rich heritage and modern luxury. The Hotel comprises of 39 bedrooms around a pool area, overlooking the 18 hole Gary Player Championship Golf Course. The Hotel offers a choice of standard rooms, luxury rooms or junior suites, all tastefully decorated with locally produced furniture and original art.
The Drawing Room doubles as a well-stocked library and a cosy Cognac and Cigar lounge where guests can enjoy an intimate and relaxing chat after dinner. Situated on 3500 hectares (8650 acres) of land within a Malaria free zone, Bushman Sands Reserve offers Big Game sightings from open top land rovers. Working with Shamwari's conservation team, animals that once roamed freely over 200 years ago have been re-introduced into their natural habitat. Among elephant and rhinoceros, there is also a wide variety of antelope species to be seen.
The Africa of a bygone era is further recaptured by the Bushman paintings, which are only accessible by foot in the reserve. Dating back thousands of years, these rock art paintings ensure that the cultural legacy of the Khoi san people remains for years to come.
Water based activities as well as walking safaris, boat cruises and adventure sports make a visit to the Bushman Sands Game Reserve an experience never to be forgotten. |

The undulating fairways, severe bunkers and bent grass greens make the Bushman Sands Golf Course challenging yet friendly.

This unique course boasts a double green for the 2nd and 5th holes, encompasses a live railway line and features an historically intriguing cemetery resting in the centre of the 18th fairway.
It is also the only course in South Africa upon which 2 rivers meet, namely the Bushman's River and the New Year's River.

Guests can indulge and be pampered with a choice of relaxing or stimulating beauty treatments and massage therapies at our spa. Guests have full use of the Hydrotherapy Area, including a Jacuzzi, steam room, shower and chill pool.
The 220 hectare New Year's dam in the Bushman Sands Game Reserve provides an ideal platform from which to watch an African sunset. Whilst enjoying their favorite drink from the bar, visitors may spot elephant bathing and antelope sipping cautiously at the water's edge.
The Conference Centre hosts up to 90 delegates and offers a serene working environment away from the big city. Tailor-made packages which may include game drives, golf, boat cruises and team building exercises are available to make your conference more memorable. Regional Location
Travel from Port Elizabeth on the N2 towards Grahamstown, taking the N10 towards Cradock/Cookhouse. 11 kilometers past Paterson, turn right and travel into Alicedale to Bushman Sands. |
