Mashatu Game Reserve, as a commercial enterprise, depends on the well being of the reserve and the wild animals that occupy the area for its' prosperity. For this reason we have initiated a research program which incorporates scientists into the operation to study aspects important to the protection and conservation of the area.
The research program is on-going, and the active projects will change from time to time as researchers complete their different studies.
The following projects are currently active at Mashatu:
Mashatu now offers the Ivory & Archaeology Experience and Predator Drives to guests staying at Mashatu Main and Tent Camp. Guests therefore now have the opportunity to have a hands-on experience in wildlife research, and gain in depth knowledge of the animals under study.
