AAMS19 Kiwayu – 2 Nights
Day 1 Mombasa – Kiwayu (LD)
Just beyond Lamu lies a glistening archipelago of coral islands, including the island of Kiwayu. A scheduled light aircraft flight takes you to this picturesque island. During your free afternoon, why not try snorkeling among the coral.
Kiwayu lies on Kenya's East Coast on the Indian Ocean, and forms part of the northern Lamu Archipelago. For centuries, the bay of Kiwayu has been a calling point for Arab dhows trading in ivory, carpets and carved chests traveling between Arabia, Mombasa and Zanzibar filling their "debes" with sweet water from wells.
Overnight at Kiwayu Safari Village.
Voted by international magazines and newspapers as the finest seaside resort in Kenya, Kiwayu Safari Village is set to steal your heart.
Day 2 Kiwayu (BLD)
The day is at leisure. Scuba diving and sailing are just two of the water-based optional activities available. Turtles lay their eggs along the sandy beaches and clams over 150 years old are found among the coral.
This marine park is home to many types of marine life like coral fish, dugongs, whale shark, basking whale, tuna, marlin, sailfish, wahoo, kingfish and many other sports fish species. Dolphins and whales are seen regularly off the coast of Kiwayu, moving in shoals across the ocean. The turtles lay their eggs on the sandy Kiwayu Beach, and are protected by Kenya Wildlife Services and resident hotels.
