Chitabe Camp, Botswana
Chitabe is a very comfortable 16 bedded tented camp built on one of the most beautiful islands in the Okavango Delta, in a private area that is bordered on three sides by the Moremi Game Reserve. The area is surrounded by waterways and lagoons that harbours a wonderful variety of wildlife. Accommodation consists of spacious East African style tents built on elevated wooden decks, each with en-suite facilities with flush toilets, and a shower and basin with hot and cold running water. A separate thatched dining room, pub, lounge and pool area is linked by raised walkways. The raised decks offer superb views over the open floodplain in front of the camp. Activities consist of day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, as well as nature walks. Game viewing is good, and includes Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Reedbuck, Lechwe, Impala, Zebra and Hippo. Wild dogs are also sometimes sighted. Night drives can be very rewarding with good sightings of the rarer nocturnal animals. Access into this area is only by aircraft. Chitabe has been operational since 1997 and has developed an outstanding reputation.
Chobe Safari Lodge, Botswana
Chobe Safari Lodge is a friendly, family style lodge. Both the River and Safari Rooms are air-conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms. Liase with the Booking Office with regards to the activity times during your stay, and pick up points. There is one Chobe River cruise (afternoon), one game drive (morning or afternoon), one 2 hour private boat cruise, 3 days national park entry fees as well as a choice of 2 additional activities included during your stay. Additional activity options: fishing, night drive, game drive, boat cruise, small private boat, mokoro trip, nature walk in Zambia. The Chobe riverine area is famous for its large herds of elephant attracted by the plentiful water supply. In addition there are buffalo, hippo, lion, zebra, giraffe and many other species of wildlife.
Deception Valley Lodge, Botswana
Situated 120 km south of Maun, Deception Valley Lodge accommodates only 10 guests in 5 private units each with a luxury twin-bedded bedroom, lounge and a Victorian style bathroom with outside shower. All units are fitted with ceiling fans, mosquito nets and a mini-bar. Each cottage stands separately, on stilts, and is connected to the main lodge by wooden walkways. The main lodge has an ethnic African theme, decorated in warm Kalahari colours and making use of Bushmen and other African artefacts. An inviting swimming pool is situated close to the main complex as well as a boma for night time meals. Track gemsbok, kudu, springbok, cheetah, leopard, the evasive brown hyena and the inquisitive meerkat on day and night game drives. Nature walks and walks with the Bushmen are a highlight. The Deception Valley area is a bird lovers paradise, hosting a vast variety from small finches to huge vultures.
Horse Safari, Botswana
The base camp features large twin-bedded tents, each with their own traditional bush shower and toilet. The camp is open year round. The fly-camp, utilised in safaris of one weeks duration or more, is a smaller more rustic tented camp.
Kwando Lagoon Camp, Botswana
Lagoon Camp lies on the shady bank of a permanent lagoon formed by the meandering Kwando River. Each of the 6 purpose designed tents comprises a large bedroom area, entrance area, en suite bathroom with his and hers basins, flush toilet and spacious outside shower. The riverine bush provides shelter to large herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game, ever alert for the presence of large predators prides of lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena. During the dry months rare and endangered species like roan and sable are regularly seen in the Mopane scrub and forests beyond. Activities focus on open vehicle game drives (day and night) and trips on the double deck boat. Stop for a spot of fishing in the river or lagoons and catch the fighting tiger fish, bream, catfish and pike.
Kwara Camp, Botswana
Kwara Camp is located in the remote northern part of the Okavango Delta in a 1 750 sq km private concession bordering the Moremi Reserve. Kwara encompasses a diversity of habitats, ranging from permanent delta water with lagoons and channels, islands, open grasslands, and Mopane woodlands. This area is home to a wide variety of animals including elephant, impala, wildebeest, giraffe, tsessebe, kudu, zebra, water buck, sable, roan and buffalo. Lion, wild dog, hyena, leopard and cheetah represent the numerous large predators. The Okavango is also home to over 300 species of birds. Kwara camp has 8 twin-bedded tented rooms on teak decks with en suite shower and toilet. Like other Kwando Safaris camps it has a small gift shop, lounge, bar, dining room and a small plunge pool. Kwara is one of the few Okavango Delta camps that can offer year round powerboat trips and mekoro trips. Other activities include day and night open vehicle game drives and walks on treed islands. There is also excellent fishing for bream, catfish and pike.
Kwetsani Camp, Botswana
Kwetsani Island is a large, elongated island surrounded by enormous open plains in Botswana's Okavango Delta. It is located in the private Jao Reserve, an area of 60,000 hectares to the west of Mombo and the Moremi Game Reserve. The island is heavily wooded with palm, mangosteen and fig trees. The water levels around the island change each year, depending on the magnitude of the annual floods from central Africa. The water levels at Kwetsani are at their highest from April or May to September each year. Kwetsani Camp is a small, intimate, ten-bedded luxury camp and is raised on wooden decks above the lush ground vegetation. The five spacious and lavish "tree-house" chalets are built under thatched roofs and have canvas and pole walls. En suite facilities include a shower, flush toilet and basin, with an additional outdoor shower. The rooms have an open, airy feel about them, with a superb view of the surrounding plains. The dining room, lounge and pub area is situated under cool trees. Hippo, Sitatunga antelope and Crocodile reside in the deeper permanent lily-filled lagoons of the area. Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog, Cheetah, Tsessebe and Lechwe are among the major game attractions. Nocturnal animals such as Porcupine, Aardwolf, Serval, Genet and Bushbaby can be observed on the night drives (water levels permitting). Kwetsani offers superb land and water activities - with much of the focus depending on the water levels from the region's annual flood. In addition to stalking game by mokoro, you will also be able to enjoy exploring palm-fringed islands on foot. Day game drives are a highlight, enabling guests to experience varied and diverse game viewing. Guests have excellent chances of spotting predators during the day as well as on night drives.
Mankwe Bush Lodge, Botswana
Situated amongst shady mopani and camelthorn trees, Mankwe Bush Lodge is on its own private concession outside the Moremi Game Reserve, approximately 30 km from the Khwai River crossing. The 7 luxury tents with en-suite ablutions (flush toilets and hot water showers and basins) are comfortable and in a typical wilderness style. The lodge runs on 12V and thus has no electricity. The swimming pool, fire area and bar are stylishly built on a wooden deck whilst forming part of the surrounding wilderness. Activities here include day and night game drives as well as bush walks in the private concession area.
Oddballs Palm Camp, Botswana
Accommodation in camp is provided in 3-man dome tents set on shaded, elevated wooden decks. Each tent is equipped with mattresses, bedding and a light. There are shared ablution facilities with showers and plenty of hot water. The bar and lounge area has comfortable chairs and a raised viewing deck, that overlooks the delta and is the perfect place to enjoy the sunsets. Hippos often play in the channel, and other wildlife, particularly elephant, are often to be seen. Our bar serves a wide range of soft drinks, beers, ciders, wines and spirits. A laundry service is available upon request. We utilise solar power only but can normally charge video camera and other rechargeable batteries.
