Gorillas - Nouabal-Ndoki is one of only three national parks in Congo, and is now a nationally and internationally recognised conservation area of great importance, with a highly developed infrastructure, well trained personnel, and significant economic backing.
The Park is rich in flora and fauna, containing many species of large mammals, such as elephants, western lowland gorillas, chimpanzees and leopards, over 300 bird species, 1 000 species of plants and several different forest types.
Odzala - One of the really unique features of the Odzala National Park is the presence of the many forest clearings or saline's offering marvellous opportunities for observing otherwise rarely seen forest species. Attracted by the mineral salts in the soil and the succulent herbaceous plants sitatungas are commonly observed shoulder to shoulder with gorillas, elephants, and giant forest hog. These are also excellent areas for bird watching. Currently closed for tourism (May 2005) it could well open soon - please enquire.
Goliath Tiger Fish -
We offer an option in the DRC, out of Kinshasha, to catch these monsters - over 45 kg recorded. This is hard fishing, in rough conditions. Congo offers you the famous Black River, as well as a section of the Congo River as a hunting ground for your fishing adventure. Although the Mbenga's of the Black River are more modest in size as those of the Congo River, fishing on the Black River is good all year round. It earned its reputation thanks to the book by Douglas Dann. Access via scheduled flights to Kinshasha.
Wild Frontiers design tailormade trips to these areas, with guides. Enquire for rates and options.
