Coconut Beach Hotel (Planhotel Beach Resort), Kenya
Situated 3 km from the town of Malindi, in front of a white Casuarina beach and forming part of the Planhotel Beach Resort, the Coconut Beach Hotel comprises 45 rooms, all with balcony, ceiling fans, air conditioning, bathroom with shower, room safe and telephone. You will have access to 2 restaurants, 5 different bars and a private beach offering facilities such as beach towels, sun beds and umbrellas. Resort amenities include a swimming pool, hotel shops, scuba diving and big game fishing facilities. Diani Reef Beach Resort, Kenya
The Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa is a brand new 5 star resort (opening January 2005) offering 144 bedrooms all with a view of the magnificent Indian Ocean. All rooms are fully equipped with TVs, as well as internet plugs for e-mail and web-surfing requirements, mini-bars, hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities, safes and air-conditioning. There are a diverse range of restaurants - a Continental a la carte and buffet restaurant, an Oriental restaurant offering Indian, Chinese and Japanese cuisine, including Tapaenyaki tables, and a Beach Seafood Grill. Over five bars to choose from within the hotel and right on the beach. A Health Spa & Wellness Centre (the first of its kind in Kenya) with qualified therapists provide private rejuvenating treatments as well as a full fitness centre. Galdessa Camp, Kenya

Galdessa is a small, exclusive, semi-tented camp located in the middle of Kenyas largest park, Tsavo East National Reserve. The lodge is comprised of 8 bandas and 2 lodges (communal areas) all of which face the Galana River and the Yatta Plateau. The focus here is on nature tourism with walking and night drives available. Apart from an abundance of riverine game (hippo, crocodile and waterbuck to name a few) many elephant are found in the area. Bush game includes lesser kudu, gerenuk, kongoni, dik-dik, buffalo, impala, giraffe and zebra. All of the main predators are also present. Galdessa is in the middle of Africas largest unfenced population of black rhino 51, and they are often seen on foot whilst out walking. The bandas are semi-tented bungalows with a thatched roof, timber and stone floors and canvas walls. En suite bathrooms are spacious, with running water except for the shower, which is a romantic safari shower in a canvas container, heated on demand. All the beds are camp-made with timber from the park and are very large for extra comfort.

Governors Camp, Kenya

Governors Camp, the first tented camp to be established in the Masai Mara and possibly the best known, is situated in the west of reserve. The 38 tents, keeping the authentic, traditional safari atmosphere, are set amongst the trees along the Mara River and have unrivalled views over the plains. All have en-suite bathrooms with shower and basin, running cold and hot water as well as a flush toilet. Gas and paraffin lamps are used for lighting. Nearby, there is a cleared area overlooking the river where breakfast and lunch buffets are served when the weather is fine. Candlelit dinners are in the dining tent. There are various activities on offer: game drives in open landrovers, game walks or balloon flights over the wide plains. Day excursions to Lake Victoria are also on offer. However, we recommend to book this excursion well in advance and combine the Lake Victoria trip with an overnight stay. Three game drives daily are included in the package price. Other activities (walking, ballooning, Lake Victoria excursion, a visit to a Masai village) are extra.

Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort, Kenya

Hemingways, Kenya
Hemingways is situated 15 minutes drive from Malindi Airport right on the edge of Watamu beach - providing each room a sea view and a spacious stone terrace. The hotel exudes a casual upmarket elegance. It is known for deep-sea fishing and is also a romantic and relaxing getaway. All 78 rooms have showers, air-conditioning, fans, private safes and fridges. Indian Ocean Beach Club, Kenya

The Indian Ocean Beach Club on Diani beach is a luxury hotel with 100 rooms spread out like a Swahili village in single and double story cottages all facing the beach. It has a beautiful position and is quiet and secluded. All rooms have fans and air-conditioning, en suite bathrooms and private patio/balcony. Facilities include excellent restaurants, a large swimming pool and 3 plunge pools scattered around the grounds. Island Camp, Kenya

Built on a hill, the tented accommodation and communal areas at Island Camp are reached by walking and climbing along winding stone paths and steps. At the highest point is the swimming pool with commanding views across the lake to the mountains beyond. As the camp is at the end of a big island, one can take lengthy birding walks or hike to the hot springs at the far end of the island.

Kichwa Tembo, Kenya
Kichwa Tembo is in the west of the Masai Mara, located high on a ridge on the edge of riverine forest. The luxury tents are stylish and spacious with twin beds and en suite bathroom with hot shower, toilet and electrical hurricane lamp. Each tent has its own shaded verandah with canvas camp chairs and a stunning view. Game viewing from Kichwa is excellent - with large herds of buffalo and elephant often being seen. A swimming pool is available to cool off in, with some of the best views in Africa. The camp uses specially designed Land Cruisers with open roofs for optimum game viewing. Guides are knowledgeable on the flora, fauna, game, bird life as well as the customs of the Masai people. Morning and afternoon game drives are included in the package price.

Kijani House, Kenya

Kijani House lies in the village of Shella, on Lamu Island, in tropical gardens leading directly to the sea. Six double rooms and four triple rooms each have their own balcony or verandah and are spread throughout the garden into three small thatch roofed Swahili buildings which were formerly private homes. The kitchen specialises in seafood, Italian and African dishes. There are two fresh water swimming pools. Lamu town is 15 minutes away by boat or 3 kms on foot.

Lake Navaisha Club, Kenya

This beautiful old hotel was Kenya's international air terminal just after World War II. The flying boats of British Overseas Airways landed here as they followed the Nile south on to South Africa. Several wings and clusters of rooms and cottages are set in 12 hectares of cool lawns, shaded by spreading fever trees and accented by colourful gardens. Rooms are attractively furnished with en suite facilities.

Leopard Beach Hotel, Kenya

Situated only 34 km from Mombasa, the Leopard Beach Hotel is on Diani Beach with elevated views over the Indian Ocean. The white coral sand beach is secluded and sheltered, shaded by coconut palms. The 144 Standard and Superior rooms are thatched, stone buildings set in 30 acres of landscaped tropical gardens. Mara Intrepids Camp, Kenya
Mara Intrepids Camp straddles the migration corridor at the confluence of the Masai Maras main game-viewing areas, giving guests an unbeatable view of the worlds most famous wildlife spectacle. The camp comprises 30 tents divided into four very private areas, each with its own elegant mess tent and secluded riverside viewpoints. The raised guest tents present a picture of old world elegance, with giant four-poster beds and handsome mahogany furniture offset by modern en suite bathrooms and luxurious amenities. Internationally trained chefs prepare delectable al fresco dishes to order. Mara Porini Camp, Kenya
Mara Porini Camp has recently been set up in the exclusive wildlife conservancy of Ol Kinyei, one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem and less than 18 kms from the Maasai Mara park boundary. The conservancy holds a wide variety of the animal species for which the Mara is famous, including a large resident pride of lion. Porini Camp has just 6 guest tents and is sited along the banks of the Laetoli, a permanently flowing watercourse. The tents are spacious, have solar electric lights, and an en suite bathroom with flush toilet and safari shower. Food is excellent with home baked bread, fresh salads and high quality meals prepared by the camp chef. Guests enjoy morning, evening and night game drives, sundowners at scenic viewing points and escorted walks with Maasai guides. Rates include park & conservancy fees, all game drives, walks, wine, beer and soft drinks. Camp closed 16 April to 31 May.

Mayfair Court Holiday Inn, Kenya
The Mayfair Court Holiday Inn is a three/four star hotel, located in the suburbs of Nairobi, approximately 6km from the city centre. Within easy walking distance of the hotel is the Westlands shopping centre with the largest and best variety of shops and restaurants in Nairobi. Ocean Village Club, Kenya

The Ocean Village Club is a charming resort situated 35 kilometres south of Mombasa on Diani Beach famous for its vast, white, sandy beaches. There are a total of 69 rooms and 36 bungalows. All the bungalows are situated amidst a luxurious rain forest garden, each with its own private terrace overlooking the gardens to the ocean beyond. Olonana Safari Camp, Kenya
Olonana Safari Camp is an elegant tented camp positioned right on the Mara River just outside the Masai Mara Reserves western boundary. This location enables the lodge to offer the best of both worlds night drives and walking safaris as well as day time game drives within the reserve. Rekero Camp nestles in a ravine forest close to the confluence of the Talek and Mara rivers and is ideally located for the annual migration from the Serengeti through the Masai Mara. The Samburu Intrepids Club is like a fantasy tree house with decks built around trees, wooden walkways leading from one area to another and high thatched roofs towering above.
