TANZANIA & KENYA SERENGETI & MASAI MARA LODGE SAFARI - 15 Day

This combination package incorporates Arusha, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater & the Serengeti in Tanzania and Nairobi and the Masai Mara in Kenya.

Includes: Airfare Johannesburg - Kilimanjaro - Johannesburg on Air Tanzania, all transfers as specified, accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis in Arusha and Nairobi, accommodation including all meals on safari, services of a driver/guide, transport by 4 wheel drive vehicle on safari, internal flights Seronera-Arusha and Nairobi-Masai Mara-Nairobi, game viewing activities as specified, park fees in Tanzania.

Excludes: Visas (re-entry into Tanzania from Kenya - payable direct at the border), travel insurance, health requirements, gratuities, drinks, park fees in Kenya (currently US$ 40.00 per person per day - payable direct to the lodges), all items of a personal nature and any service not specified.

Please note:
The Tanzania Safari portion of this package is based on scheduled departures.
Easter weekend supplements are excluded from the package prices.
It is possible to fly Kilimanjaro - Nairobi - Kilimanjaro instead of using the shuttle bus on Days 8 and 14. Please enquire for prices.
All rates are subject to change due to airfare increases or any other unforeseen circumstance.
Optional extra - balloon safari including champagne breakfast (available from your Serengeti or Masai Mara camp) - at an additional cost per person. Pre-booking is essential.

Health requirements - Yellow Fever inoculations are necessary (this must be done no later than 10 days prior to departure). Anti-malaria tablets are also necessary. Please enquire for details of travel clinics operating in your area.

Visas - Should you be travelling on a South African passport you will need a visa for Tanzania. This takes approximately 3 working days and can be done at the Tanzania High Commission in Pretoria. We can make the necessary arrangements on your behalf, alternatively they can be contacted on telephone: or at 822 George Avenue, Arcadia, Pretoria. You will need a valid passport (your passport must have at least 3 blank pages), 1 passport photograph and 1 completed form. Other nationalities - please check with our office or the Tanzania High Commission. It is also possible to obtain a visa on arrival. South African s currently do not require a visa to enter Kenya.

Travel Insurance - We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance for the duration of your holiday. Please contact us for further details.

ITINERARY:

Day 1 - Depart Johannesburg on Air Tanzania flight at 13h40 to Kilimanjaro via Dar es Salaam, arriving Kilimanjaro 20h35. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Arusha Hotel, or similar, for overnight on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2 -
Morning at leisure - time to look around the safari town of Arusha, change your travellers cheques etc. At 14h00 you will be collected by your driver/guide for your 6 day/5 night safari to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Drive to Lake Manyara, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Overnight - Manyara Serena Lodge

Day 3 - After breakfast depart on a morning tour of Lake Manyara National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch drive to Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight. Overnight - Ngorongoro Serena / Sopa Lodge.

Day 4 - After breakfast we descend steadily down the steep 610 metre sides of the crater from our lodge on the crater rim. A morning's game viewing in the crater is almost guaranteed to turn up four of the Big Five, as well as zebra, gazelle, warthog and a rich variety of birds, all viewed against the backdrop of the thickly forested crater walls. Return to the lodge for a late lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro.

Day 5 - Depart after breakfast with a picnic lunch and drive via Olduvai Gorge, viewing game en route to the Serengeti. It is at Olduvai Gorge where, in 1959, Mary Leakey made her groundbreaking discovery of a hominid (human-like) skull dating back 1.8 million years. Since then other hominid species, possibly our early ancestors, have been found in the area dating as far back as 3.7 million years. The whole area is often referred to as the cradle of mankind. Dinner and overnight - Serengeti Serena / Sopa Lodge.

Day 6 -
In the morning a game drive followed by lunch. In the afternoon another game drive. Dinner and overnight at your Serengeti lodge.

Day 7 -
Breakfast at leisure and proceed to Seronera airstrip for your flight to Arusha. Arrive Arusha and transfer to hotel. Lunch and dinner in Arusha for your own account. Overnight at the Arusha Hotel, or similar, on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 8 - This morning you'll depart on the shuttle at 08h00 to Nairobi. Arrive at the Holiday Inn Nairobi at about 13h00. Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis. (Lunch and dinner for own account).

Day 9-11 - Morning transfer to Wilson airport for scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp, located on the edge of the escarpment offering magnificent views across the Masai Plains. Three nights spent here, full board with daytime game drives included.

Day 12-13 - Transfer by vehicle to Siana Intrepids Tented Camp, located on the eastern boundary of the Masai Mara. In addition to daily game drives, you may go on bush walks and night game drives Two nights spent here on a fully inclusive basis - all meals and game drives included. Bush walks and night game drives are not included in the package cost and would attract an additional cost to be paid direct to the camp.

Day 14 - Morning transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi. Met and transferred to the New Stanley Hotel from where you'll depart on the 14h00 shuttle to return to Arusha. Arrival at the Arusha Hotel at around 18h00. Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis. (lunch and dinner for own account).

Day 15 -
Morning transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi. Met and transferred to the New Stanley Hotel from where you'll depart on the 14h00 shuttle to return to Arusha. Arrival at the Arusha Hotel at around 18h00. Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis. (lunch and dinner for own account).
