TANZANIA FAMILY SAFARI TO LAKE MANYARA, SERENGETI & NGORONGORO CRATER - 8 Day

On a private safari (for your family only) you will have your own dedicated driver/guide who will take you on a fascinating journey through Northern Tanzania. For health and safety reasons we would recommend this trip to families with children over 6 years old, however the lodges will accept children of all ages.

Includes: Airfare Johannesburg - Kilimanjaro - Johannesburg on Air Tanzania, road transportation in a private 4 wheel drive vehicle, domestic flight Serengeti-Arusha, bed and breakfast accommodation in Arusha, all meals in lodges on safari services of a driver/guide, game drives and sightseeing as specified, park fees .

Excludes: Visas, travel insurance, health requirements, gratuities, drinks, all items of a personal nature and any service not specified.

The following are a few of the possible arrangements that can be made to make your trip as a parent (or child!) more enjoyable:

- Early dinner sittings can be arranged with children friendly meals
- Child minders will happily watch children either in their bedroom or TV room whilst parents go for dinner   (note that although many of our female staff are mothers, none of them are 'qualified' nannies)
- All lodges have board games for children, suitable for ages 3 and upwards. Paints, crayons and colouring   in books can also be organised
- The swimming pools (available at some of the lodges) are suitable for children (with parental supervision)   with very shallow sections.

** Important:
All rates are subject to change due to airfare increases/any other unforeseen increase beyond our control.

Health requirements - Yellow Fever inoculations are necessary (this must be done no later than 10 days prior to departure). Anti-malaria tablets are also necessary. Please enquire for details of travel clinics operating in your area.

Visas - Should you be travelling on a South African passport you will need a visa for Tanzania. This takes approximately 3 working days and can be done at the Tanzania High Commission, 822 George Avenue, Arcadia, Pretoria, Tel: . We can arrange these for you or they can be done direct. You will need a valid Passport (your passport must have at least 3 blank pages), 1 passport photograph and 1 completed form. Other nationalities please check with our office or the Tanzania High Commission. It is also possible to obtain a visa on arrival.

Travel Insurance - We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance for the duration of your holiday. Please contact us for further details.

Day 2 - Morning at leisure - time to look around the safari town of Arusha, change your travellers cheques etc. At 14h00 you will be collected by your driver/guide and drive to Lake Manyara, famous for its tree-climbing lions. (Morning departures from Arusha can be arranged on request). Overnight - Manyara Serena Lodge

Day 4 - After breakfast we descend steadily down the steep 610 metre sides of the crater from our lodge on the crater rim. A morning's game viewing in the crater is almost guaranteed to turn up four of the Big Five, as well as zebra, gazelle, warthog and a rich variety of birds, all viewed against the backdrop of the thickly forested crater walls. Return to the lodge for a late lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro.

Since then other hominid species, possibly our early ancestors, have been found in the area dating as far back as 3.7 million years. The whole area is often referred to as the 'cradle of mankind.'
