UGANDA SAFARI WITH THE JANE GOODALL INSTITUTE - 15 Day

Together with Wild Frontiers, a professional local safari operator, JGI has arranged a 14 day tour of Uganda where you will visit some of the most beautiful forests in Uganda, have an opportunity to see both of the great apes (mountain gorillas and chimpanzees) in the wild and many of the primate species. Along with this, you will see first hand the work that JGI is carrying out Uganda to not only protect the long term survival of chimpanzees, but to ensure Ugandans are given opportunities to develop their country in a sustainable manner.

These trips are accompanied by a qualified research primatologist from JGI Uganda who is an expert on primates and the conservation issues of the country.

Your visit not only helps Uganda, but also the chimpanzees, with a large portion of the trip costs being donated directly to the various JGI projects in Uganda .

A fifteen day Uganda safari from Entebbe, visiting the above projects and including two optional forest walks with the orphaned chimpanzees on Ngamba Island, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest and viewing Mountain Gorillas in Mgahinga Gorilla National park and / or in Rwanda, at the Park National des Volcans, game viewing in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, and the famous Murchison Falls National Park on the Nile river.

Includes: All transportation and transfers by boat and 4x4 customised vehicle, experienced local driver/guides, accommodation as stated, all meals per itinerary, all park entry fees, Forest and primate walks within the itinerary (1 x chimp tracking Kibale, 1 x forest walk Busingiro, 1 x Forest walk Maramgamba), boat cruise on the Nile at Murchison Falls. Services of a JGI research primatologist as tour leader. Donation to the Jane Goodall Institute Uganda for the projects referred to below. Membership of JGI International. Mineral water on safari.

Drinks, tips, all items of a personal nature, visas, gorilla viewing fees USD375 Rwanda per gorilla permit per trek, chimp tracking Chamburu & Budongo optional.

ITINERARY:

Day 1 - Arrive Entebbe. Overnight hotel. Meet guide and JGI member. Bed & Breakfast.

Day 2 - Drive to Murchison Falls (6-7 hours), forest walk en route at Busingiro. Nile Safari Camp. Full Board.

Day 3 - MFNP - game drives, walks, Nile Cruise. Overnight Nile Safari camp. Full Board.

Day 4 - MFNP - game drives, walks. Nile Safari camp. Full Board.

Day 5 -
To Kibale Forest. Tented camp or lodge. Night primate walk optional. Full Board.

Day 6 -
Kibale Forest. Chimpanzee tracking, and Kibale Eco Tourism Program. Full Board.

Day 7 - Queen Elizabeth NP. Game drives & forest walk Maramagambo Forest.

Day 8 - Queen Elizabeth NP. Game drives. Full Board.

Day 9 -
To Kabale region via Kalinzu Forest, and Lake Bunyoni. Tented Camp. Full Board.

Day 10 - To Mgahinga Gorilla NP. Community projects and forest walks.Overnight Rwanda Lodge - Gorilla Nest. Full Board.

Day 11 - Rwanda gorilla tracking. Overnight Gorilla Nest. Full Board.

Day 12 - Second gorilla tracking. Overnight Kabale - hotel. Full Board.

Day 13 - Return to Entebbe. Boat to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Full Board.

Day 14 -
Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary - chimp forest walk optional. Full Board.

Day 15 -
Return to Entebbe for flight out.
