Bilimungwe Bushcamp (luxury trails camp), Zambia
Bilimungwe is situated 50 kms from the main Mfuwe area, heading south along the picturesque bank of the Luangwa River. It nestles in riverine forest in an exclusive area of the park. The camp consists of 4 reed and thatch chalets with en-suite shower and toilet. Each chalet has two queen beds with large mosquito nets and an individual re-chargeable lighting system. The dining area is constructed on raised decking overlooking Bilimungwes permanent water hole and the abundant game that it attracts.
Chamilandu Bushcamp (treehouse chalets), Zambia
Chamilandu is located on the banks of the Luangwa River with a dramatic view of the sprawling and scenic Chendeni Hills. There are 3 treehouse chalets overlooking the river which have open fronts providing magnificent views. The decor of the 2m high chalets is a tasteful blend of wrought iron and brass. Each chalet has comfortable beds, mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms with shower, washbasin and toilet. A series of 7 ox-bow lagoons around Chamilandu yield diverse habitats and attract abundant wildlife.
Chendeni Bushcamp (luxury tented camp), Zambia
Chendeni has an altogether different character from the other bushcamps. The camp nestles on the apex of a permanent ox bow lagoon, offset by the magnificent Chendeni Hills. Raised on wooden decking, Chendenis 4 en-suite tents provide luxury facilities. Each tent has its own private raised veranda - ideal platforms from which to view the resident big game or to simply enjoy the serenity of the lagoon. Tents have two queen sized beds, hot and cold running water, shower and toilet. An early morning walk between Chendeni and Bilimungwe provides an ideal opportunity to enjoy both of these camps.
Chundukwa Tree Lodge, Zambia
Chundukwa Tree Lodge is situated about 30 kms upstream from the Victoria Falls. Accommodation is provided in 4 unique tree houses, complete with bathroom en suite, built on stilts overlooking the Zambezi River. Each tree house chalet has uninterrupted views of Chundu Island and the Zambezi National Park opposite. The lodge blends naturally with the Waterberry trees adorning the riverbanks. Package price includes all meals and a sundowner cruise daily.
Kafunta River Lodge, Zambia
Kafunta River Lodge is set in riverine forest on the banks of the Luangwa River. The 8 attractive chalets, fashioned from wood and thatch, are set on stilts overlooking the national park. Each has private balcony views and offer spacious accommodation with roof fans and en suite facilities. The main bar/dining area surrounds a magnificent wild mango tree and overlooks the river. Swimming pool. Take part in game drives, walking safaris and night drives accompanied by experienced safari guides and discover the abundance of wildlife in the park. Night drives offer the experience of viewing unique nocturnal creatures. Package price includes all meals, 2 game viewing activities per day and park fees. Drinks to be paid extra. Kafunta caters for children of all ages. There is a sandpit and toys for toddlers and games, competitions and quizzes can be arranged for older children. An optional extra would be a trip to the Chipempele Wildlife Education Centre which has lots of interesting display material and books. A nanny can be arranged (on request) to look after children whilst parents take meals or have a rest. Separate vehicles are available for families for game drives so safari times can be tailored to shorter outings if required. All ages are permitted on game drives. Walking safaris however, are only available to children of 12 years and older.
Kayila Lodge, Zambia
Kayila Lodge is situated in a private wildlife sanctuary on the northern banks of the Zambezi River, approximately 45 km downstream from Chirundu opposite Mana Pools National Park. Accommodation is in 9 stone under thatch chalets each with en suite facilities, a veranda and a private view of the river. There is also a double-bedded treehouse. Activities include day and night game drives, walking, sundowner cruises, fishing (limited rods and tackle are provided) and canoeing (on request). Common sightings at Kayila are elephant, buffalo, puku, bushbuck, kudu, zebra, hippo, crocodile and an abundant species of birdlife. Nocturnal animals such as hyena, porcupine, civet, genet, honeybadger and leopard are occasionally seen on night drives. There are also lion on the estate and wild dog occur further east in the Lower Zambezi National Park. There have also been occasional sightings of the Samango Monkey on the estate. The lodge is open year round and boast a swimming pool.
Kuyenda Bushcamp, Zambia
Kuyenda Bushcamp is a wonderful bushcamp situated in a very remote area of the park on the banks of the Manzi River. The accommodation consists of 3 thatched rondavels made entirely of local material - reed, thatch and wood. These rondavels are taken down and rebuilt every year. The chalets are simple but very comfortable and offer a really authentic bush experience. Large spacious beds, with mosquito netting and all facilities en-suite (shower, toilet and washbasin). The bathroom is open to the stars and you need to order the hot water for the shower in advance thus epitomising what a safari is all about. As Kuyenda is inside the national park itself, big game action happens on your doorstep. It is an excellent walking area and activities are tailored to the client needs. For many years Phil Berry has been hosting and guiding at Kuyenda. He personally guides the walks himself ensuring that everyone gets a unique insight into this very special place. Game activities include primarily walking safaris and a combination of walking and driving. The camp is only open from 01 June to 31 October each year, this being the best time for walking safaris. Nkwali Camp, Zambia
Nkwali Camp is a 12 bedded camp situated on the banks of the Luangwa River, outside the national park, on private land which has excellent game. The 6 open style chalets have walls made of woven bamboo, with plaster inside, and are equipped with mosquito netting. Bathrooms are open-air and en-suite with shower, hand basin and flush toilet. The camp has a bar, built around a huge ebony tree, and a thatched dining area which overlooks a waterhole where game drink at midday. Lighting for the camp is by solar power, paraffin and gas. Swimming pool. Activities include day and night drives and bush walks. Nkwali is open from 01 April 31 December each year. Nsefu Camp, Zambia
Nsefu Camp was the first game camp in Zambia and dates back to the early fifties. The Nsfeu sector was recognised then as a phenomenal area and it still is. The camp lies in the heart of this undeveloped sector and so offers charm and total comfort in remoteness and seclusion. The view of the river is superb and includes a terraced area where game grazes during the day. The bar, tucked in beside a huge extinct termite mound, overlooks a waterhole that is very productive for game, especially leopard at night. The rondavels, with spacious bathrooms, each have a clear view of the river through large gauzed windows and from the wooden veranda. The camp accommodates a maximum of 12 guests, is open annually between 01 June and 31 October only, and offers walks and day and night game drives. Package price includes 2 game viewing activities per day, park fees and drinks.
River Club, Zambia
River Club is situated on the Zambezi River, 18 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls, facing the Zambezi National Park. This upmarket lodge accommodates a maximum of 20 guests in 10 open-fronted, split-level, timber and thatched chalets. Each chalet has mosquito nets, overhead fans and en-suite facilities. The main colonial style lodge building (which is the original farmhouse) houses the dining room, drawing room, reception and shop. The lodge faces west onto the Zambezi River with spectacular views of some islands which are usually frequented by elephant. Tena Tena is located on the banks of the Luangwa River in a secluded area of the park and shaded by Natal mahogany trees. The camp comprises 4 custom-made, twin-bedded Manyara type safari tents under a thatched roof with en suite shower and flush toilet. It is an excellent base for both walking safaris and game viewing drives. These are often led by Robin Pope, admired as one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides in Southern Africa. Walks and game drives visit quiet lagoons, pans and sandbanks, stopping for splendid breakfasts and picnics prepared in advance - often by surprise. Thorntree Lodge, Zambia
Thorntree Lodge is 20 km upstream from the Victoria Falls, situated on the banks of the Zambezi River. There are 9 twin-bedded chalets, under thatch, with en suite facilities, each having a veranda with deck chairs and private view of the river. Guests can watch elephants wading between the islands and a wide variety of birdlife from the wooden sundeck stretching out over the river. There is a swimming pool and thatched gazebo in the grounds. Package price includes all meals, game viewing activities and tours. Park fees and drinks to be paid direct.
Tongabezi Lodge, Zambia
Tongabezi Lodge is a small, secluded lodge, set in a tranquil grove of African Ebony trees on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River.
