We have been travelling to Zanzibar and running trips there for 14+ years, so know the place and the people fairly well by now!! ITINERARY:
Day 1-7 - Daily Departures. Depart Johannesburg International Airport on Air Tanzania flight to Zanzibar via Dar es Salaam. On arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to Mapenzi Beach Club. Spend 7 nights here on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 8 - This morning you will be collected for your transfer to Zanzibar Airport. Depart Zanzibar on Air Tanzania to Johannesburg via Dar es Salaam.

ZANZIBAR & MAFIA ISLAND - 8 Day
|
Mafia is - in the true sense - an island retreat for adventure divers, game fishermen or simple feet-up relaxation. Only 70 miles south east of Dar es Salaam, the island was a regular stop for Arab and Persian dhows plying the coastal waters from Kilwa and Mozambique from the 12th Century.
Chole Bay, Mafia's protected deep-water anchorage, is part of a marine park. Its natural horseshoe shape is studded with lovely beaches. The diving here is amongst the most spectacular in the world and includes colourful coral gardens, walls at various levels and many shelves and coral heads. |

Smaller islands and reefs are within easy reach for drift diving, excellent snorkelling and sightseeing. The warm, clear, protected waters of the bay are ideal for swimming, sailboarding and lasers.

Health requirements - Yellow Fever inoculations are necessary (this must be done no later than 10 days prior to departure). Anti-malaria tablets are also necessary. Please enquire for details of travel clinics operating in your area.
Visas - Should you be travelling on a South African passport you will need a visa for Tanzania. This takes approximately 3 working days and can be done at the Tanzania High Commission, 822 George Avenue, Arcadia, Pretoria, Tel: (012) 342-4393. We can arrange these for you or they can be done direct. You will need a valid Passport (your passport must have at least 3 blank pages), 2 passport photographs and 2 completed forms. Other nationalities please check with our office or the Tanzania High Commission. Visas can also be obtained on arrival.
Travel Insurance - We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance for the duration of your holiday. Please contact us for further details.
ITINERARY:
Day 1 - (Daily departures) Depart Johannesburg on Air Tanzania flight to Dar es Salaam. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Holiday Inn for overnight on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2-5 - This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your light aircraft transfer to Kinasi Lodge on Mafia Island. Stay here for 4 nights including all meals and selected activities. Kinasi is a small luxury lodge for 30 guests. Built with natural materials and traditional palm thatching, the lodge is situated on a hillside overlooking the bay and islands of Chole, Jibondo and Juani. The large rooms are decorated with hand-made furniture, each with an elevated wooden verandah complete with hammock, and private bathroom. The cuisine at Kinasi is first class. Forest walks, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, game fishing, sailing, birdwatching and exploring the ancient ruins all provide lots to do. Swimming pool and small boutique.
Day 6 - Transfer to the airport and depart Mafia Island by light aircraft to Zanzibar. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Dhow Palace Hotel, Stonetown. Spend 2 nights here on a bed and breakfast basis. Dhow Palace Hotel is situated in the heart of Stonetown. Each room has been decorated in its own unique, traditional way, which offers comfortable accommodation in 4 poster beds, en suite facilities with hot and cold showers / baths, fans / air conditioners and a stocked fridge. Breakfasts are served on the rooftop with interesting views of the town and ocean.
Day 7 - Day free to partake in a multitude of optional activities. Explore the old Stonetown, bargain with the traders, take a spice tour, visit Prison Island to see the giant tortoises and ruins from the slave trade era, visit the Arab fort or take a sundowner dhow cruise. Should you wish to make any sightseeing tour reservations our local representative will gladly assist.
Day 8 - Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight with Air Tanzania to Johannesburg via Dar es Salaam.

ZANZIBAR FUNDU LAGOON PEMBA ISLAND - 8 Day

Pemba Island is the northernmost of 3 islands (Mafia & Zanzibar) located off the coast of Tanzania, 25 kms from the mainland. Fundu Lagoon Resort is a unique resort designed for groups of friends looking to escape the usual resort style hotel, as well as divers and water sports enthusiasts wanting a combination of luxury and activities.

Stay here for 5 nights inclusive of all meals, drinks (excluding champagne), Mesali Island snorkelling trips, Mangroes canoe safaris and dhow sunset cruises. Boat transfers to/from Mkoani port included if required.
Day 7 - Transferred to Pemba Airport for your return flight to Zanzibar. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Chavda Hotel. Overnight 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 8 - Early morning transfer to the airport for your return flight to Johannesburg on Air Tanzania.
